Itinerary

Fall in love with spectacular Cinque Terre from Florence

Five miles of spectacular rocky coast, two promontories, thousands of kilometers of dry walls built on terraces cultivated with vineyards and five colorful medieval fishing villages built on rock. Now add the incredible colors of the sea and sky and you may understand what Cinque Terre is.

Explore colorful fishing villages

Cinque Terre from Florence, 5 unique villages to discover: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso.
Inaccessible until recently, Cinque Terre have kept the charm that make them so special and are part of a national park system protected by UNESCO since 1997

Move through the villages

There is no coastal road that directly connects the fishermen’s villages, take the local train and/or boat services to move through the villages.

This is our suggestion after years of’ experimenting’, the perfect solution to maximize your time and enjoy this beautiful area with maximum comfort:

Riomaggiore

From La Spezia, drive a panoramic road until Riomaggiore. Along this stretch of road admire the Golf of La Spezia, vineyards and lovely countryside.

Start your adventure from Riomaggiore, the first of the five villages. Your driver will give you off giving you all the info on how to use the train/boat, timetables, maps, etc.

Manarola

Via dell’Amore, the walking path that connects Riomaggiore to Manarola is still closed for repairs after the flood. To reach Manarola we suggest going by train. Same from Manarola to Corniglia or directly to the 4th village Vernazza.

Corniglia

Normally we suggest skipping Corniglia, because it is the only of the five towns not located on the coast (no pier).
Naturally, if you are interested in visiting Corniglia you can do this from the train station at the bottom of the hill, where there is a shuttle service (usually very crowded!) that goes up to the village.

If you are energic enough, you may want to climb up the 400 steps (and come down again!) but this takes up a lot of your time in Cinque Terre and we don’t recommend it.

Experience a boat ride, take a boat between Manarola and Vernazza and admire and take spectacular pictures of Corniglia from the sea.

Monterosso

The last stop of your private experience to Cinque Terre is Monterosso. Visit the old part of the village, taste typical seafood in one of the local restaurants, or relax on the sandy beach of Fegina (newest part) swimming in the crystalline water of the Ligurian Sea.

Why private?

On a big bus tour, you have to go back and forth by train because buses are not authorized to drop you off at Riomaggiore and pick you up at Monterosso. We save you time, stress and walking!
At the end of your amazing day exploring Cinque Terr from Florence, your driver will pick you up directly in Monterosso and comfortably bring you back to your accommodation in Florence.
