Conclude your day with a relaxing drive back to your accommodation
Five miles of spectacular rocky coast, two promontories, thousands of kilometers of dry walls built on terraces cultivated with vineyards and five colorful medieval fishing villages built on rock. Now add the incredible colors of the sea and sky and you may understand what Cinque Terre is.
Cinque Terre from Florence, 5 unique villages to discover: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso.
Inaccessible until recently, Cinque Terre have kept the charm that make them so special and are part of a national park system protected by UNESCO since 1997
There is no coastal road that directly connects the fishermen’s villages, take the local train and/or boat services to move through the villages.
This is our suggestion after years of’ experimenting’, the perfect solution to maximize your time and enjoy this beautiful area with maximum comfort:
From La Spezia, drive a panoramic road until Riomaggiore. Along this stretch of road admire the Golf of La Spezia, vineyards and lovely countryside.
Start your adventure from Riomaggiore, the first of the five villages. Your driver will give you off giving you all the info on how to use the train/boat, timetables, maps, etc.
Via dell’Amore, the walking path that connects Riomaggiore to Manarola is still closed for repairs after the flood. To reach Manarola we suggest going by train. Same from Manarola to Corniglia or directly to the 4th village Vernazza.
Normally we suggest skipping Corniglia, because it is the only of the five towns not located on the coast (no pier).
Naturally, if you are interested in visiting Corniglia you can do this from the train station at the bottom of the hill, where there is a shuttle service (usually very crowded!) that goes up to the village.
If you are energic enough, you may want to climb up the 400 steps (and come down again!) but this takes up a lot of your time in Cinque Terre and we don’t recommend it.
Experience a boat ride, take a boat between Manarola and Vernazza and admire and take spectacular pictures of Corniglia from the sea.
The last stop of your private experience to Cinque Terre is Monterosso. Visit the old part of the village, taste typical seafood in one of the local restaurants, or relax on the sandy beach of Fegina (newest part) swimming in the crystalline water of the Ligurian Sea.
On the way back to Florence you get the chance to stop at one of the most beautiful squares of Italy: Miracle Square where the Leaning Tower, the Cathedral, the Baptistry, etc. are. Your driver will drop you off at 20 meters from the Tower so you’ll be able to take a picture easily and comfortably.
On a big bus tour, you have to go back and forth by train because buses are not authorized to drop you off at Riomaggiore and pick you up at Monterosso; same for Pisa you cannot be dropped off at the Tower, and you must walk or catch a shuttle. We save you time, stress and walking!
At the end of your amazing day exploring Cinque Terre and Pisa, your driver will bring you back to your accommodation in Florence.

Do you suggest adding a local guide to our tour to Cinque Terre?
It is totally up to you! An expert local guide can enrich your experience with history, facts and anecdotes. However, this itinerary is famous for its natural views, the particularity of the buildings on the cliff, etc.
Can we reserve a local guide directly on-site, on the day?
Unfortunately, no! If you’d like to add this optional service you must book it at the time of reservation, or at least a few days in advance.

How much walking is involved in the private tour to Cinque Terre from Florence?

Unfortunately ‘Via dell’Amore’, the walking path that connects Riomaggiore to Manarola, is still closed for repairs after the flood.
Are the train/boat tickets to move through the villages included in the price?
Tickets are not included in the price because being a private service, you are free to decide how to move through the villages (train or boat), where to stop, etc.

Euro 4.00 per ride and if you go with our suggestion of visiting max 4 villages, you will need max 3 tickets, for a total of Euro 12.00 per person.

Approx. 15 minutes each.
Is the boat service running all year?
The boat service normally runs (April to October) and is subject to weather/sea conditions.
How long we will stop in Pisa?
Normally we suggest to stop for approx 45 mins, so you will have time to admire the Leaning Tower and all the other attractions in the Miracle Square.
Can we climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa?
The suggested schedule is perfect for those who just want to admire the Square, the Tower and take a picture of it. If your main interest is to climb the Tower, (to be sure about the availability) you need to pre-purchase the timed tickets. In this case we need to know it at the time of booking, so we can suggest you the right time slot to buy the tickets, according to your preferred departure time.
