Inaccessible until recently, Cinque Terre have kept the charm that makes them so special. Besides using your private vehicle, it is also necessary to take the local train and/or boat services to move through the villages as there is no coastal road to connect them.
What is Cinque Terre?

The villages
Discover Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso! Each unique in its way all part of a national park system protected by UNESCO since 1997.
This is our suggestion after many years of’ experimenting’, the perfect solution to maximize your time and enjoy this beautiful area with maximum comfort:
Riomaggiore village
Depart from your ship at La Spezia Port and arrive in La Spezia, a journey through panoramic roads until Riomaggiore. Along this stretch of road, admire the Golfo di La Spezia, vineyards and lovely countryside.
Drop off in Riomaggiore, the first of the five villages (South). You have all the necessary info from your driver on how to use the train/boat, timetables, maps, etc and just enjoy these amazing lands.
The walking path that connects Riomaggiore to Manarola (Via dell’Amore, the Path of Love) reopened in August 2024: it runs one way only and needs a timed reservation booked in advance. Without a reservation, the easiest way to reach Manarola is by train. Same suggestion from Manarola to Corniglia or directly to the 4th village called Vernazza.
Corniglia village
Normally we suggest skipping Corniglia because it is the only one of the five towns not located directly on the coast (no pier). Naturally, if you are interested in visiting Corniglia you can do this from the train station at the bottom of the hill, there is a shuttle service (usually very crowded!) that goes up to the village.
If you are energic enough, you may want to climb up the 400 steps (and come down again!), but this takes up a lot of your time in Cinque Terre and we don’t recommend it.
Boat ride
Experience a boat ride, take a boat between Manarola and Vernazza, admire Corniglia and take pictures of village from the sea.
Wander in Monterosso
The last stop of your private experience to Cinque Terre is in Monterosso. Visit the old part of the village, taste typical seafood in one of the many local restaurants. Or relax on the sandy beach of Fegina (newest part) and take a refreshing bath in the crystalline water of the Ligurian Sea.
Why private?
Last but not least: if you are on a big bus tour you have to go back and forth by train because buses are not authorized to drop you off at Riomaggiore and pick you up at Monterosso. Save time, stress and walking as your driver can pick you up directly in Monterosso and bring you back to your ship.

Departure time: Suggested 8:00am but you can customize it according to your ship schedule and preference.

Sometimes docking and disembarkation time don’t correspond, and not all passengers may disembark at the same time.
Service duration: The price includes up to 9 hours (i.e. 8:00am pick up – 5:00pm drop off).
If you’d like to extend your day, according to your ship departure schedule you can check availability directly with your driver.
Meeting instructions: As soon as you disembark catch one of the free shuttle buses waiting close to the ship, for a 2 minutes ride.
Your driver will be waiting for you where the shuttle drops you off, holding a sign with your name on it.
