Itinerary

Discover the medieval wonders of Tuscany, explore Siena and San Gimignano!

See the highlights of Siena, walk narrow streets in San Gimignano, take a picture of the hilltop fortress in Monteriggioni and admire the beautiful Tuscan countryside. Meet your professional English-speaking driver and immerse into the beauty of the Tuscan countryside landscapes.

SIENA

Enjoy a scenic one-hour drive through Tuscany’s countryside and stop in magnificent Siena, the birthplace of the beloved Italian Saint Catherine.

Discover the fascinating city made of brown Siena-colored bricks, that’s how they named the color! Narrow streets and delightful squares, medieval towers that make such a spectacular skyline, a beautiful cathedral, the tall and trim Torre del Mangia. All together create an enticing atmosphere almost like stepping back in time.

Discover Siena and Piazza del Campo

Built on three hills and is home to one of the most authentic and important Gothic cathedrals south of the Alps.

Despite the city’s architectural masterpieces, it is the unusual shell-shaped Piazza del Campo that receives the most consideration having been seen in numerous films and photographs.

Palio horserace

In this brick-covered square twice a year takes place the famous ‘Palio’ horserace. It involves the entire population and it is considered one of the most important events in the life of the people in Siena.
Almost anything will be done to win this extremely competitive race and bring home the ‘Palio’, a silk banner proudly displayed in the ‘contrada’ or neighborhood it represents.

Tuscan countryside

During your ride between Siena and San Gimignano, enjoy the most beautiful views over the Tuscan landscape with vineyards, olive trees, rolling hills and old stone buildings.

MONTERIGGIONI

Stop in Monteriggioni, a 13th-century hilltop fortress village. Have a walk in this tiny, medieval walled village surrounded by olive groves and vineyards.

SAN GIMIGNANO

Explore medieval San Gimignano, a small town in Tuscany famous for its splendid skyline made up of 13 towers! This 11th-century town rises 334 meters above Elsa Valley along the ancient road ‘Via Francigena’ used by traders and pilgrims to reach Rome.
San Gimignano prospered considerably during this period thanks to this route and all the inns built along its way to host travelers.

Discover the ancient beauty

Today, the cultural and natural heritage of San Gimignano has been recognized by UNESCO. Besides its 13 remaining towers, also see the ‘Duomo’ or Collegiate Church and its magnificent frescoes, ‘Palazzo del Popolo’ and ‘Palazzo Nuovo del Podestà’ now the town hall.

Visit the church dedicated to Saint Augustine, the Museum of Holy Relics, and the infamous Museum of Torture with its macabre displays of early torture instruments.

Local craft, food and Vernaccia wine

Wander up and down the main street in San Gimignano, go in and out of the numerous specialty artisan shops. The ceramics are beautiful here and there are also places for buying leather goods and linens.

Food and wine lovers, enter the many shops selling delicious local products. You can’t miss tasting San Gimignano’s ‘vernaccia’ wine in the several wine bars in town with some local pairings.
