A private tour to discover a small village famous for producing Brunello wine, one of the most prestigious red wines in Tuscany. From Florence, drive through the stunning Tuscan countryside of South Siena for a splendid day of sightseeing and wine tasting.
Montalcino village
The scenery is breathtaking here – cypress trees, fields and livestock with extraordinary combinations of green, gray and brown landscapes. The famous Brunello wine is produced here with the local Sangiovese grapes. Every activity in the town revolves around the wine production.
Explore Montalcino
Walk in Piazza del Popolo in the center of the town and Palazzo dei Priori nearby, a building from the 1300s. Three churches here worth a visit, built between the 13th and 15th centuries: Sant’Agostino, Sant’Egidio and the Cathedral.

The legend of the Abbey of Sant’Antimo
In the solitary Valle d’Orcia visit the Abbey of Sant’Antimo, one of the most beautiful Romanesque monastic monuments in Italy.
Legend has it that it was founded by Emperor Charlemagne in 781. It is said that on their way back from Rome along the ancient road Via Francigena, most of the Emperor’s army came down with the plague. When the Emperor’s prayers were answered and the pestilence ceased, he founded the Abbey.

My wife and I had a great with Leo as our driver. He was awesome. He was very knowledgeable about the area and we learned a lot. Most impressive was his ability to suggest a new strategy to not visit Montalcino and to add another winery to visit instead. Casa Emma was a great winery and turned out to be the best winery of the 3 we visited. We would do this trip again and specifically ask for Leo as our driver.
