LAMBORGHINI

The history of ‘Lamborghini Automobili’ officially starts in 1963. Nevertheless, we must consider the far-off roots of this event: the roots of Ferruccio Lamborghini.

Born in 1916, this capable, impetuous, strong-willed Taurus was the leading character in the foundation of the company at the early phases of its extraordinary history.

Ferruccio Lamborghini

By the time he decided to build a factory of luxury sports cars, Ferruccio was already a wealthy man. In the period after World War II, he founded his tractor factory launched with energy and determination, creating a major point of reference in this industry. Other businesses followed and he amassed his fortune at the perfect time, before his fiftieth birthday.

The hazard

By the early Sixties, Lamborghini was a powerful and successful man who knew exactly what he wanted. But when he said he would build a super sports car to compete with Ferrari many people thought he was mad. Making that kind of car was seen as an extravagance, a hazardous leap in the dark and something that would squander his fortune without ever turning a profit.

Automobili Ferruccio Lamborghini

He started working on this project in late 1962 and by May 1963 he had already founded ‘Automobili Ferruccio Lamborghini’. He bought a large plot of land in Sant’Agata Bolognese, about 25 kilometers from Bologna to build a new large and ultramodern factory.

The passion

Because of the experience he had gained with his other companies, he was in the position to set up the best facilities for his purpose: a functional structure that at the time was unrivaled in its field.

The enormous and well-let central building was adjacent to the office building, so that the management could constantly monitor the production situation. This was ideal for Lamborghini, who would often roll up his shirtsleeves and go to work on cars personally when he saw something that wasn’t done just the way he wanted.

FERRARI

See in person the amazing achievements of another remarkable man with a vision: Enzo Ferrari.

Ferrari Gallery origins

Ferrari Gallery was inaugurated in February of 1990 and until 1995, was entirely run by the Townhall of Maranello, also the owner of the land where the Gallery is located.

In October 2004, a new wing of the Ferrari Gallery Museum was opened enlarging the total space from 1700 square meters to the actual 2500 square meters enriching the exhibit with larger spaces and new services.

Close to the factory and Fiorano track

Ferrari Gallery is located just a short distance from the factory where the cars are made and only minutes away from the Fiorano track. The Gallery still belongs to the Municipality of Maranello but today it is directly managed by the company and is a fascinating place for everyone to visit, even those not particularly interested in cars.

Formula One

There’s so much to see here and the exhibit is divided into four parts to make it easier to visit. Learn more about ‘Formula One’, see a themed exhibit, discover the innovative technology that makes Ferrari so special and see a fantastic photographic exhibit.

Souvenirs

Ferrari Gallery Museum also has a top-notch gift shop to satisfy your souvenir cravings with all kinds of Ferrari gadget hats, t-shirts and more. When you are happy that you’ve seen enough, relax and enjoy a comfortable ride to your accommodation in Florence.
