Conclude your day with an easy pick up directly at the last visited village
Inaccessible until fairly recently, Cinque Terre have kept the charm that makes them so special. Besides using your private vehicle, it is also necessary to take the local train and/or boat services to move through the villages, as there is no coastal road to connect the villages!
Five miles of spectacular rocky coast, two promontories. Thousands of kilometers of dry walls built on terraces cultivated with vineyards, five medieval fishing villages built on rock.
Now add the incredible colors of the sea and sky and you may understand what Cinque Terre is.
Cinque Terre means Five Lands and alludes to the beautiful five villages named Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso. Each is unique in its way, all part of a national park system protected by UNESCO since 1997.
This is our suggestion after many years of’ experimenting’, the perfect solution to maximize your time and enjoy this beautiful area with maximum comfort:
Depart from your ship at Livorno Port and arrive in La Spezia, a journey through panoramic roads until Riomaggiore. Along this stretch of road, admire the Golfo di La Spezia, vineyards and lovely countryside.
Drop off in Riomaggiore, the first of the five villages (South). You have all the necessary info from your driver on how to use the train/boat, timetables, maps, etc and just enjoy these amazing lands.
The walking path that connects Riomaggiore to Manarola (Via dell’Amore, The Path of Love), is still closed for repairs after the flood. To reach Manarola we suggest going by train. Same suggestion from Manarola to Corniglia or directly to the 4th village called Vernazza.
Normally we suggest skipping Corniglia because it is the only one of the five towns not located directly on the coast (no pier). Naturally, if you are interested in visiting Corniglia you can do this from the train station at the bottom of the hill, there is a shuttle service (usually very crowded!) that goes up to the village.
If you are energic enough, you may want to climb up the 400 steps (and come down again!), but this takes up a lot of your time in Cinque Terre and we don’t recommend it.
Experience a boat ride, take a boat between Manarola and Vernazza, admire Corniglia and take pictures of village from the sea.
The last stop of your private experience to Cinque Terre is in Monterosso. Visit the old part of the village, taste typical seafood in one of the many local restaurants. Or relax on the sandy beach of Fegina (newest part) and take a refreshing bath in the crystalline water of the Ligurian Sea.
Last but not least: if you are on a big bus tour you have to go back and forth by train because buses are not authorized to drop you off at Riomaggiore and pick you up at Monterosso. Save time, stress and walking as your driver can pick you up directly in Monterosso and bring you back to your ship.
Your private day at Cinque Terre from Livorno Port ends with a comfortable ride back to the Cruiser Terminal.

Do you suggest adding a local guide to our Cinque Terre Tour?
